Senior Laura van der Doorn (Beverwijk, The Netherlands) found the back of the cage twice on Friday, both serving as game-tying goals, but Kelly Diplock's second of the night with 3:37 remaining in double overtime pushed No. 10 Limestone College past the Southern New Hampshire University field hockey team, 3-2.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
  • van der Doorn erased a 1-0 deficit midway through the first and less than 30 seconds after the Saints went in front before converting a feed from freshman Kirsten Hagel (Driehuids, The Netherlands) with 5:33 left to play in the third quarter. 
  • Diplock led all scorers with five points, as she assisted on Limestone's opening goal before potting the final two tallies for the hosts.
KEY MOMENT
  • With time winding down in the second overtime, Diplock settled a long aerial before beating a defender and the goalkeeper to deposit the game winner in the 77thminute.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Graduate student Melanie Rennie (Madison, Conn.) steered aside four shots in the setback.
  • The Penmen were at an 18-14 disadvantage in shots, however, they put nine shots on cage compared to the Saints' seven.
  • Southern New Hampshire drew 14 penalty corners while surrendering 18.
NOTES:
  • van der Doorn is now tied for the programs record in goals with Maddie Holt '19 with 23. van der Doorn extended her career points record to 58, which is now seven ahead of Holt.
  • SNHU falls to Limestone for the second consecutive season after dropping a 5-0 final at Penmen Stadium in 2018.
